ThetaMask is a light-based instrument that gives recovery a fixed place in high-pressure work. Research suggests guided wind-down between demands may help the nervous system settle before the next one.

Mask delivers light. The app delivers sound.

The mask uses integrated LEDs and an infinity-mirror effect to deliver photic (light) entrainment. The companion app handles audio entrainment separately, through your own headphones. Used together, this audiovisual brainwave entrainment guides the brain toward slower theta and alpha rhythms.

The mask emits light only. There is no speaker in the mask.

What stands behind the instrument

01The science

The evidence, stated honestly

Studies show brainwave entrainment may support relaxed, recovered states. We describe what the research does and does not establish: the evidence by outcome, twelve citations, and a clear safety note.

Safety note: photic stimulation can affect people with photosensitive epilepsy. Anyone with a seizure history or photosensitivity should consult a clinician before use.

03How we build

Built, tested, and studied in one loop.

Every part of the instrument is developed by the same small team. What user testing and research surface in one revision is built into the next.

Hardware
Industrial design, optics, and electronics developed in-house, printed and assembled on our own bench.
Firmware
Light programs run on our own controller firmware, revised as the research asks.
Software
The companion app is built alongside the hardware it drives.
Research
User testing and research with academic partners feed hardware and program revisions.

The next instruments will come out of the same loop.

04Applications

Built for demanding work

Decompress between demands

A short session is designed to settle the nervous system before the next task, briefing or shift.

Recovery after sustained pressure

After long stretches at high tempo, entrainment toward slower rhythms may ease the drop out of a keyed-up state and into rest.

A way into meditative states

EEG studies link these rhythms to states seen in experienced meditators. Entrainment may make them easier to reach without years of practice.

Partnership

For research and institutional partners

ThetaMask is pre-beta and not for sale. We work with research and institutional partners on studies and pilots. Tell us about your context and we will follow up.
